Colorado loses 30 degrees in mid May, ends up in snow

WEATHER – “Welcome to Colorado, where it snows in May.” Denver-area residents are laughing out loud on social media. After taking advantage of the temperatures around 32°C, on Saturday 21st April they had to as you can see in the video at the top of the article.

Several tens of centimeters of snow

Relatively unscathed by the storm, Denver recorded just a few inches of snow. However, parts of Colorado saw between 30 and 45 inches of snow fall, Reuters reports. The snowfall has offered a white landscape worthy of a month of December, while at the same time a large part of the country, like France, is experiencing summer temperatures.

This snow episode caused great damage. Trees fell on roads and power lines were damaged, plunging nearly 80,000 homes into darkness, the Washington Post reported.

If these late snowfalls remain rare in the region, Colorado has seen such episodes in the past. In 1953, on June 6, residents saw the last snowflakes of the season fall.
