The American comic was temporarily banned from Twitter after making fun of the businessman who just bought the social network.
Comedian Kathy Griffin, who has caused controversy by repeatedly attacking Donald Trump, and quite virulently so, has been temporarily suspended from Twitter after changing her name to Elon Musk on the social network.
The comic had also replaced its profile photo with a snap of the businessman before urging its subscribers to vote Democratic in the United States midterm elections and leave Twitter for rival Mastodon.
“After many heated discussions with the women in my life, I’ve decided that voting Democrats is the right thing to do (those women are hot too, by the way),” Kathy Griffin wrote, poking fun at Elon Musk for the style of his tweets.
“I’m back from the dead”
Kathy Griffin falls victim to the new Twitter policy: “In the future, Twitter accounts that pretend to be someone else without clearly stating ‘parody’ will be permanently blocked,” said Elon Musk on Sunday. “Any name change will result in a temporary loss of the blue tick.”
Kathy Griffin, whose account has still not been reactivated, has nevertheless returned to the platform with his late mother’s account, Maggie Griffin. On Sunday, comedian Elon Musk replied, “I’m back from the dead to tell you to free Kathy.”
Since the announcement of Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, several celebrities have announced their departure from the platform. “I’m not staying for what Elon has planned [avec Twitter]. Goodbye,” said Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey’s anatomy. Actress Amber Heard and singer Toni Braxton have also deactivated their accounts.
