Comedian Pete Davidson charged with reckless driving after Beverly Hills crash

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles prosecutors charged former “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson on Friday with reckless driving, three months after authorities said he crashed into a Beverly Hills home.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed reckless driving charges against the actor and author, but did not release details of the March 4 crash in Beverly Hills.

“We believe that Mr. Davidson committed reckless driving which ultimately resulted in his being involved in a serious collision with a home,” the prosecutor’s office wrote. “Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in this collision.”

Davidson’s indictment is scheduled for July 27. His representatives and the Beverly Hills Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Prosecutors used the high-profile case to point out the “devastating consequences” of reckless driving.

“In 2022, Los Angeles traffic fatalities will hit their highest level in 20 years,” the bureau wrote in its statement. “This is an alarming trend that we cannot ignore. It is therefore vital that we take all allegations of reckless driving seriously and hold those responsible accountable.”

Davidson’s newest show, “Bupkis,” launched on Peacock last month.
