Australian entertainer Tim Minchin has revealed his mother Ros has died after a three-year battle with blood cancer.
“My mother died yesterday,” Tim told a stunned audience at his Sydney show on Friday night.
The British-born comedian, 48, had told several stories about his mother and performed various songs he had written about her during the show.
In one of his stories, Tim revealed that his mother Ros was diagnosed with terminal blood cancer in 2020.
At the end of the show he received a standing ovation before making the devastating announcement.

“My mother died yesterday,” Tim told a stunned audience at his Sydney show on Friday night
He said he decided to go ahead with the show despite the family tragedy ahead of an emotional performance by White Wine in the Sun.
He then ended the show by asking the audience to help him sing the final song of the evening, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.
Many viewers praised Tim for his candid confession.

Tim took to social media on Monday with a simple tribute and a photo of his mother that said, “This is how it goes.”
Another commented: “Thank you so much for the show tonight and the very emotional ending. “Condolences and much love to you and your family.”

Tim and his wife Sarah, whom he married in 2001 and with whom he has a daughter and a son, returned to Australia from Los Angeles in December 2017.
