Comedian Wahid Bouzidi dies aged 45 after suffering a stroke

As revealed by stand-up show Jamel Comedy Club, comedian Wahid Bouzidi died in Morocco on Sunday at the age of 45, just days after suffering a stroke, his spokesman at AFP said.

“Wahid Bouzidi died of a stroke while in Morocco on Wednesday and passed away this morning,” his spokesman said.

After this stroke, the artist had been hospitalized and was in a coma. He had already suffered two strokes in 2021, he told Le Courrier de l’Atlas at the time.

The actor, with a strong build and good-natured looks, was featured on comedian Jamel Debbouze’s show, Jamel Comedy Club, in 2006. In January he had opened a new one-man show at the Le République theater in Paris and his tour was set to cover the whole of France.

In the cinema we have seen him in several comedies, including “Case Départ”, “Neuilly his mother, his mother!”, “Nicky Larson and Cupid’s Perfume” or even “Reluctant Superheroes”.

His death sparked many tributes mid-show.

“Wahid, I will remember your kindness, your gentleness, your benevolence and your laughter for years,” reacted the presenter and comedian Arthur on the social network X (ex-Twitter).

“Wahid we didn’t know each other very well but every time we met I was so happy to see your smile so benevolent and bright,” actress Leila Bekhti also shared on Instagram.
