Commanders star Brian Robinson’s shooter, 15, pleads guilty to being injured while running back

Commanders star Brian Robinson’s gunman, 15, pleads guilty to running back in a botched robbery in August AND killing a teenager in another incident weeks later

A teenager has pleaded guilty to shooting at Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson in August and killing a 15-year-old boy in the country’s capital in the weeks that followed.

The shooter has not been publicly identified but admitted in court that he and a 17-year-old friend tried to steal Robinson’s car on August 28. However, the 23-year-old Alabama product fought with the 17-year-old, after which the gunman, then just 14, fired off two shots, hitting Robinson in the knee and hip.

Luckily, Robinson suffered only minor injuries and returned to action weeks later.

“I was trying to get the man’s Hellcat,” the 15-year-old gunman told authorities, referring to Robinson’s muscle car. “I wasn’t thinking. It was wrong.’

Since the Robinson shooting, a 15-year-old named Andre Robertson has been fatally shot on a relative’s porch. Robinson’s shooter has also pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter, the Washington Post reports.

The 15-year-old gunman remains at the Department of Juvenile Rehabilitation Services awaiting his March 8 sentencing.

Robinson was in the middle of his first NFL training camp when he was approached by the two teenagers on August 28. The 15-year-old gunman and another teenager held Robinson up and tried to take his wallet and the keys to his Dodge muscle car. Robinson tried to escape but was caught by the older teenager, who began wrestling with the NFL player.

Robinson, 23, successfully wrested the gun from the 17-year-old but was then shot dead by the younger boy, police say.

Robinson returned to the action on Oct. 9, rushing for 22 yards in his first NFL game with nine carries. Since then, he’s put together a solid rookie season, gaining 797 yards on 205 carries. He also added nine receptions for 60 yards.
