The head of the legislature pointed out that the country can no longer endure the prolongation of the power vacuum as the crisis deepens; and stressed the need to reach a consensus to appoint the new President.

Berri felt that the percentage of optimism matches that of concern about the international and regional climate to promote political understanding in the search for the Lebanese leader.

Given the lack of an external veto over a specific candidate, the head of parliament stressed that the solution involves dialogue and the speedy election of the president with the intention of restoring the nation’s mechanisms.

In this regard, the head of the Executive Council of the Islamic Resistance (Hizbollah), Hashem Safieddine, reiterated that the Lebanese were able to solve their problems, always remote from the bets of some abroad.

At the same time, MP Muhammad Raad pointed out that the key to overcoming the crisis is internal understanding and reiterated the inadmissibility of appointing the President of the Republic by a foreigner.

Since September 29th, Lebanon has been trying to elect the new representative of the Maronite Christian community as head of state after the end of Michel Aoun’s term on October 31st.

Awaiting the convening of the twelfth presidential session, the country is surmounting the obstacles of the fourth post-independence power vacuum under an interim government with limited constitutional powers.
