Leaders of the Common Front, which represents 420,000 union members across Quebec, praised the progress resulting from the agreement in principle with Quebec, which will soon be in the hands of workers.

“Our members wanted the gratitude of the pandemic to be reflected in good working conditions. Our people were strong, our people supported us,” emphasized François Enault, first vice president of the CSN.
He was flanked by other union leaders from the CSQ, FTQ and APTS who spoke in Montreal on Sunday.

The salary increases negotiated between the Common Front and the Legault government amount to 17.4% over five years. It is estimated that Quebec increased its initial offer by $2 billion.
Also note that Common Front members receive a fifth week of vacation starting from the fifteenth year of their employment.
This progress at the central table comes in addition to that achieved at the sectoral negotiating tables on working conditions.

The parties reached an agreement on December 28th. Details will be officially announced to members on January 15th.
