FSIS Issues Public Health Alert for Fresh Chicken and Ham

ConAgra Brands Inc. Recalls Banquet Brand Frozen Chicken Strips Appetizer Due to Possible Foreign Object Contamination | Food Safety and Inspection Service – fsis.usda.gov

WASHINGTON, September 2, 2023 – Conagra Brands, Inc, a subsidiary in Marshall, Missouri, is recalling approximately 245,366 pounds of frozen chicken strip entrees that may be contaminated with foreign matter, particularly pieces of plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The frozen chicken strip entrees were made on June 20, 2023, July 11, 2023 and July 17, 2023. The following products are subject to recall [view labels]:

  • 8.9 ounces. Box with a main course “BANQUET CHICKEN STRIPS MEAL” with a best before date of “11. December 2024″, “01. January 2025” or “07. January 2025” and the batch numbers 5009317120, 5009319220 or 5009319820 on the side of the box.

The products affected by the recall have the company number “EST. P-9” on the side of the box. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide and also sold online.

The issue was discovered when the company notified FSIS that it had received a consumer complaint about plastic in the chicken strip portion of the product, resulting in a mouth injury associated with consumption of that product.

FSIS has not received any additional reports of injury or illness from consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the point of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts reviews of the effectiveness of recalls to ensure that recalling companies notify them To inform customers of the recall and that measures will be taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers.
