HAVANA, Jan 15 (ACN) – Cuban Ambassador to Chile Mercedes Vicente stressed signs of support for her country in the face of the US blockade and solidarity with Brazil at the Hugs Festival taking place today in Santiago de Chile.

Thousands of people descend on the Parque O’Higgins in the capital this weekend to attend the annual convention organized by the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh), which has been suspended for three years due to the social outbreak and the coronavirus pandemic – 19

This is a tradition that emerged in 1988, even during the dictatorship, when the militants were persecuted and met again to hug each other, regain strength and continue fighting, the diplomat said.

In statements to Prensa Latina, he stressed the solidarity with his country in this event and the rejection of the President of the PCCh, Guillermo Teillier, of the economic, commercial and financial siege that the United States has been imposing on Cuba for more than 60 years.

Teillier also condemned the recent attack on the headquarters of the three powers in Brazil, assuring that this attempted coup was backed by the articulation of the continental far right, which he said posed a threat to all.

In this regard, the Cuban Ambassador stated that any attempt to disregard the will of the people would be incompatible with the most elementary norms of international law.
