Brasilia, October 2.- The President of the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) of Brazil, Alexandre de Moraes, assured that freedom and security are guaranteed for more than 156 million Brazilians who will choose their next president in today’s elections.
The security and freedom of the election are guaranteed by respect for the absolute secrecy of the ballot, guaranteed by electronic ballot boxes, “as well as respect for the broad and civilized freedom of political discussion that excludes any possibility of violence or coercion,” said De Moraes in the national radio and television.
He noted that “the 2022 general election symbolizes respect for democracy as the only political regime in which full power rests with the people”.
And he specified: “It must be exercised for the good of the people, to ensure the growth and strengthening of the Brazilian Republic.”
This Sunday, the names that will fill the offices of President of the Republic, Vice President, Governor, Senator, Federal, State and District Representatives will be elected.
According to the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE), 5,570 municipalities and 181 locations abroad hold elections.
For the TSE boss, democracy is a “collective construction” of those who believe in peace, freedom and growth.
He pointed out that the court will act in cooperation with the 27 regional electoral courts and will have 2.6,000 judges and 2.6,000 prosecutors, 22,000 civil servants and more than 1.8 million people who will voluntarily work at the voting tables , to make sure the election is done the right way.
De Morales also highlighted in his speech the ban on the use of mobile phones in the booth and the sealing of the transport and use of weapons by collectors, shooters and hunters within 100 meters of all election sessions.
“We are one of the four largest democracies in the world, but the only one that cleans and discloses election data on the same day with agility, security, competence and transparency, thanks to the advanced, reliable, secure and auditable technology of our electronic machines,” he pointed out .
The above “was and will continue to be a source of national pride,” he concluded.
