Jada Pinkett Smith has made numerous revelations in her new memoir, a book titled Worthy, including that Chris Rock asked her out during her husband’s divorce rumors and that she had been separated from Will Smith since 2016.

The story of Will Smith, Chris Rock and Jada Pinkett goes back beyond the slap at the 2022 Oscars.
The star told People magazine before the release of her book that almost all media outlets reported that she and Will Smith were divorcing.

And one summer, Chris Rock contacted her about it. “One summer he thought we were getting a divorce,” she continued. “So he called me and basically said, ‘I’d like to go out with you’.”

Dismayed, Pinkett Smith asked him why, to which he replied, “Aren’t you and Will getting divorced?” “I told him it was just rumors and he apologized profusely,” she said.
She hasn’t spoken to Chris Rock since the scandal. “I just hope that all misunderstandings can be cleared up and there can be peace,” she said.
Separated for seven years
Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have been separated since 2016, the actress revealed in her memoir.
In her book Worthy, she actually analyzed her high-profile marriage and explained that while the couple did not divorce, the two were no longer in a romantic relationship.

In an interview with the Today Show on Wednesday, Pinkett Smith confirmed that the couple had “lived apart” for several years before the famous 2022 Oscars.
Recall that a year ago at the Oscars, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock over a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia, an incident that made international headlines.

Will Smith has now been banned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for ten years.
Additionally, like many viewers, she did not believe the slap was real, as she was convinced at the time that the slap was a “sktech.” “I thought, ‘There’s no way Will is going to beat him.'”
No divorce in sight
In her Wednesday interview with the Today Show, the 52-year-old star said the exes have no current plans to legally divorce.
“I promised that we would never have any reason to divorce,” she said. “We will work on everything. And I just couldn’t break that promise.”

The couple married in December 1997 in Baltimore and share custody of their two children, Jaden and Willow, as well as Will Smith’s son Trey from a previous marriage.
