Education Lets fix the labor shortage

Congratulations to dedicated students and dedicated staff – Le Journal de Montréal

I have always understood school as a place where the general culture comes before my classes.

Also, I never saw my course as the end. Only as a means available to me to get to know my students and see them grow and develop. To help them move from the end of their “idioscence” to the age of autonomous and responsible young adults…

It is with great pride that I see and hear from my former students. Not because they are doctors, engineers, teachers, waiters, seamstresses, nurses, artists or anything else.

NO.

That’s because I remember the teenagers they were. A person is not defined by what they do for a living, but by what they are.

On this page I would like to thank them. You do a lot for me. I study every year. This is one of the reasons why a teacher is a lifelong learner.

Engaged students

I recently accompanied my daughter to her high school benefit gala. A great evening for dozens of students who excelled in their respective categories.

While the father in me was proud to be there, there was one moment that won me over as a teacher: the organizers recognized the efforts of hundreds of those who were absent.

Not just with words.

Featuring a video about what it means to be committed to your academic success.

That’s how I found out that the deserving students of the school were presented with 875 certificates of appreciation “Student is committed to his academic success” before the gala.

Congratulations to all Quebec students who are committed to their success!

And who says engaged students often says that the parents are present. While it is generally true that parental involvement is associated with greater achievement, it is particularly the involvement of parents at home and in good relationships with their children’s teachers that really makes a difference.

Dedicated staff

When we talk about people in this field we are referring to those who work in our schools. Four employment groups must work together synergistically for the success of our young people.

Many thanks to the support staff. Essential employees who often work in the background: janitors, secretaries, special education teachers, study supervisors, caregivers for disabled students, day care workers, technicians for practical work, etc.

Thank you to the professional staff. Actors contributing to student development and success: psychologists, speech and language therapists, psychoeducators, special needs teachers, educational advisors, careers advisors, etc.

Thank you to the Principals and Deputy Principals who work tirelessly to nurture and mobilize their teams to respond as appropriately as possible to the needs and strengths of our students.

Thanks to the teachers. You share your life with dozens or hundreds of students. Your contribution is vital to building the future of our society.

I wish you a nice summer!
