In a new interview, Connie shared how the drama series served as a channel for her own experiences with grief.
“I’ve found that I’ve gone through grief in my own life and that often we don’t have a way to deal with it and deal with it,” she told PARADE.
“We don’t have the tools or the language for it. It was really a wonderful opportunity to try and explore that.”
She explained that playing Dee Dee taught her that “grief takes many forms.”
“Because grief can certainly come from the loss of a loved one, but it can also come from a loss of your own self-esteem or your own sense of what you know or how you perceive your life.”
