The Yukon native, the first overall champion of the 2022 WHL, was granted player status exceptional, allowing him to play with the Medicine Hat Tigers despite being only 2 or 15 years old. He had eight assists in his first 11 games but spent the rest of the season in the South Alberta Hockey Academy’s under-18 program.

Representing her home territory at the Winter Games in Canada, McKenna set a record for most points in a single edition on Thursday. In six Group C games, he collected 29 points.

The previous brand belonged to Quebecers François Méthot (1997) and Kelsey Tessier (2007), who had scored 27 points.

McKenna will qualify for the 2026 National Hockey League Draft and is already believed to be one of the first players to be selected.
