Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Conor McGregor faces sexual assault charges and not only has he been inactive in the octagon for nearly two years, he’s adamant and is signing: he wants to keep fighting.
He told TMZ on Sunday while signing autographs for fans in New York.
The 34-year-old also wanted to thank his supporters, who all seemed excited to see him in person.
“Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it,” he said.
Ten days ago, a woman claimed McGregor sexually assaulted her during game four of the NBA Finals in Miami.
In legal letters obtained by ESPN, she accused the Heat and NBA security team of separating her from her friend and forcing her into a men’s bathroom where McGregor I was waiting.
She described being “forcefully kissed” and McGregor then allegedly attempted to force her into multiple sexual acts.
The lady quickly contacted authorities and the Miami Police Department launched an investigation with their Special Victims Unit. The Irishman disputed his accuser’s words about his solicitor, Barbara Llanes. He was neither arrested nor charged.
As for his return to competition, McGregor is expected to fight through the end of the year. He is expected to face off against Michael Chandler. Both men are mentors of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter 31.
The former champion suffered a defeat by knockout. Technique against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. During this confrontation he had sustained a very bad fracture in one of his shins.
