Conservatives in Finland ahead of election victory news

The conservative national coalition is expected to win parliamentary elections in Finland. The right-wing populist party The Finns is in second place, public broadcaster YLE reported this evening. Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s Social Democrats came in third.

“With this result, we start building a new government for Finland,” announced Orpo, 53. The head of the Finnish party, Riikka Purra, said after the first extrapolation that if the result is confirmed, it will be excellent. However, we continue to fight for the top spot.

Marin admits defeat

Marin has already conceded his party’s defeat. “Congratulations to the winner of the election, congratulations to the National Coalition, congratulations to the Finnish party. Democracy has spoken,” the 37-year-old head of government said in front of supporters of her party in the evening.

After counting almost all votes, the National Coalition won 20.8 percent, while the right-wing populist party The Finns was just ahead of the Social Democrats (19.9 percent), with 20.1 percent of wishes.
