According to a statement HBO sent to the Los Angeles Times on Monday, the idol series, which is being pushed by HBO and available on Crave, will not see the birth of its second chapter.
“The Idol” was one of HBO’s most thought-provoking original series, and we’re thrilled with the audience we’ve had,” reported the Los Angeles Times.
The saga, which starred singer The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, chronicled the rise of a young starlet and the twisted relationship she had with a man who was considered a guru.
“The Idol” received very polarized reviews when it debuted in June, most notably from Rolling Stone magazine.
According to People magazine, the decision not to proceed with the second chapter of the series was made “recently.” Although The Idol was not scripted for a sequel, the door to the project was not closed after the season one finale.
