The flow of tourists to Cuba is growing says ONEI

Cooperation with Cuba in the fields of health and biotechnology stands out in Barbados

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, whose words were picked up by the media, stressed that both states “urgently” advance the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers, on which Cuba has made great progress.

“There are too many Barbadians losing limbs to diabetes and as a result our healthcare system is under too much pressure,” said the Prime Minister.

Cubans have developed a drug that can effectively treat diabetic ulcers, Amor explained.

Therefore, he added, we agree that our relevant regulatory bodies are holding talks to bring benefits to Barbadians and reduce the number of our own families who are sadly exposed to this disease.

The two countries also agreed on additional areas of training, as the public radio and television broadcaster Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation described in its news programs.

His materials included the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding held the previous day at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Center by representatives from Export Barbados and Cuban company BioCubaFarma.

For his part, the President of the largest of the Antilles, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted the atmosphere and the positive results of the talks he held during his official visit to that country.

The President described the meeting with his counterpart Sandra Mason as pleasant, who expressed his satisfaction with the good state of bilateral relations and reaffirmed his will to further strengthen the political dialogue and closer cooperative ties.

He also appreciated that the potential between the two nations is as great as their needs and confirmed they will stick to what has been agreed.

Díaz-Canel and the delegation accompanying him arrived in this capital on Monday from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to fulfill an official agenda before the VIII Caricom Cuba Summit, which will take place this Tuesday.
