The Buckeyes have landed another major signing for their 2024 class of recruits as a cornerback Bryce West from Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville announced that he has chosen Ohio State. On April 3rd and 4th, West paid another visit to Ohio State with both of his parents. He began an official visit to the Buckeyes on Friday and has now publicly announced his commitment to Ohio State.
We stand Aaron Scott of Springfield, Ohio (who is also currently on his official visit to Ohio State) visited Ohio State together on April 3, and Buckeye’s staff made sure the two knew they were their top priority when recruiting cornerbacks had. The visit was an important step toward signing the contract for West, who spent a second day in Ohio State on April 4. Now that he’s back at Ohio State, West is a buckeye.
“I chose Ohio State because I feel like this is the best opportunity for me to grow and the staff, players and community are a good fit for me as a person and a player,” West told Bucknuts. “And being an Ohio kid, that’s definitely where I need to be, and considering they sign the best players in the country on offense and defense every year.”
West is a fast and physical cornerback with very good coverage skills and the ability to block wide receivers at the line of scrimmage. He could play inside or outside corners in college, but was recruited by the Buckeyes primarily as an outside cornerer.
At 5ft 11 and 177 pounds, West had a long and impressive list of scholarship offerings that included Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, Michigan State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Kentucky, and Indiana , Boston College, Iowa State, Pitt and many others before deciding to become Buckeye. In the end he chose Ohio State over Michigan and it’s a big recruiting win for the Buckeyes.
West is ranked No. 49 overall in the country on the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 4 cornerback and the No. 1 pick in Ohio.
Looking to sign at least three cornerbacks in the 2024 class and possibly four, the Buckeyes now have their first in West, which has excelled in one of the best prep football programs in the country.
