Corona: Lockdown from Monday in Shanghai

Corona resurges again in China. The Chinese metropolis of Shanghai announced a two-step lockdown on Sunday to fight the pandemic. To test the population, public life will be closed in two stages from Monday (March 28) to April 5, the city administration announced on its WeChat account on Sunday.

Public transport will be discontinued. Employees of most companies can only work from home. Public services and food supply are excluded. More than 26 million people live in Greater Shanghai. On Saturday alone, 2,631 asymptomatic corona cases were reported in the city. This corresponds to nearly 60% of all new infections in China. More than 14 million residents had recently undergone antigen testing.
