The princes will take part in the procession of honor for the coronation of King Charles of England. But there will be no room for Harry, Meghan and Andrea. The royal family is finalizing the details of the ceremony, which will take place on May 6th. Princes George, 9, Charlotte, 7, and Louis, 4, have revealed to Britain’s Chron newspaper that they will play a leading role in the parade that will take place at Westminster Abbey along the Mall following the coronation of the new sovereign.
The little ones will sit in the carriage carrying their parents, William and Kate of Wales. The carriage that will follow the one that will seat King Charles and his wife Camilla, the “Gold State Coach”, built in 1762 and restored for the platinum jubilee of the sovereign who died on September 8th. An absolutely vital position for the little princes, considering that children, particularly those at a young age like Louis, have historically avoided attending public ceremonies for fear they would soon tire and break protocol. For example, at the funeral procession for Elisabeth, Louis, who was considered “too young”, stayed at home. While the brothers attended the event. But this time it will be different. The little princes will stay together, following their parents both into the church for the coronation and onto the carriage for the parade, and then they will greet their subjects from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
But in the procession, according to what has been leaked, there will be no place for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex or for Andrea, the prince who fell out of favor after the scandals linking him to billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
Harry and Meghan have been invited to the coronation but have not yet officially announced if they will be attending. The Royal Household staff plan to allow their children, Archie and Lilibet, to attend the celebrations at the church as well. However, none of them will have a place of honor in the procession or be on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to greet their subjects in the “British” tradition. The revelations Harry made about the family in the autobiographical book Spare are still burning. If they accept the invitation, the Sussexes will likely stay at Frogmore Cottage, the house on the grounds of Windsor Castle where they moved after their marriage and before their flight to the United States.

Camilla’s grandchildren will also attend their grandmother and stepfather’s coronation and have an official role. The Queen Consort’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, has two sons, aged 15 and 13. According to the leaks, he hopes the boys can wear Camilla’s canopy during the coronation. But no confirmation has come from Buckingham Palace.
