Costa Rica calls for unity to face grand challenges

San Jose, 19.06. (Prensa Latina) The general secretary of the Popular Vanguard Party (PVP, communist) of Costa Rica, Humberto Vargas, today called for the unity of all revolutionaries to face the great challenge of today, the imperialism of the United States.

It is not only a duty of revolutionaries, but also of decent people, because being decent today means being anti-imperialist and anti-imperialist against the Yankee empire, Vargas explained at the conclusion of the commemoration of the 91 Costa Rican Communist Party, founded in the 40s years of the last century became PVP.

To be a revolutionary, he claimed, is a fighter for the unity of the people, because there is no revolutionary, no matter how strong and powerful, who can win without the unity of the people, without the humble, without the starving, and that is ours great task to work for the unity of the people.

Victory is not possible without popular unity, he said at a commemoration event held at the Simón Bolívar House of Culture in the capital on Sunday to allow the participation of militants from all the country’s provinces.

In an account of those more than nine decades, Vargas pointed out that the history of the communists was a complex history “in which we can count on great victories and also painful defeats”.

The communist leader began his speech with warm greetings to the Cuban ambassador, Jorge Rodríguez; and from Nicaragua, Duilio Hernández, praising the struggle of both peoples to defend their independence and sovereignty.

During the performance, speakers read congratulatory messages from various communist parties and revolutionary organizations from several countries in Latin America, Europe and the United States.
