Council of Ministers: Youri Chassin comes out of the silence disappointed

Disappointed at being left on the sidelines once again by François Legault on the composition of the Council of Ministers, CAQ MEP Youri Chassin is stepping out of the silence he has imposed on himself since last Thursday.

The member for Saint-Jérôme was among those whose absence was noted during the swearing-in ceremony of the 30 cabinet members.

In a message posted to social media on Wednesday morning, the right-wing economist said a “step back” was “necessary to put things in perspective”.

“I will not hide my disappointment at not being called up,” admits Mr. Chassin.

After four years as Parliamentary Assistant to Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon, a mandate that enabled him to “make a tangible contribution to regulatory relief”, the MP arguably expected Saint-Jérôme to have a place with the Saint Saints.

While rumors have suggested that Quebec Conservative Party leader Éric Duhaime may be courting Mr Chassin to recruit him, as he had done with Claire Samson, the main prospect apparently intends to remain loyal to François Legault.

“The CAQ has been given a strong mandate to keep moving Quebec forward. I am proud to be part of this team and like all CAQ-MNAs, I want to do my best to contribute,” writes Mr. Chassin.
