Country singer and former police officer Jeff Carson has died at the age of 58.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor died after suffering a heart attack at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee on Saturday.

His publicist Jeremy Westby confirmed the news about the singer-songwriter, who is survived by his wife Kim Cooper Carson and son Dayton Grei Herndon Carson.

Carson was born Jeffrey Lee Herndon on December 16, 1963 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He then grew up in Gravette, Arkansas, where he discovered his love for music after he began singing in church.

The late singer eventually relocated to Branson, Missouri in hopes of honing his craft as a songwriter before heading to Nashville in search of a musical career.

According to Deadline, the actor recorded demos for artists such as Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire and Faith Hill, among others.

Carson signed to Curb Records in 1995 and released his debut single Yeah Buddy that same year.

His second single, Not on Your Love, premiered that same year and went to number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

The late artist’s self-titled debut album was released in May and contained both singles.

Carson subsequently won an Academy of Country Music Award for Best Video for his track The Car, which reached number three on the charts.

The singer-songwriter released two more albums in 1997 and 2001, titled Butterfly Kisses and Real Life.

The performer also had a total of fourteen songs that achieved various positions on the Hot Country Songs chart throughout his musical career.

Carson left the music business in 2009 and joined the Franklin Police Department in Williamson County, Tennessee as a full-time officer, a position he held until his death.

The late singer remained active as a performer and has frequently shared photos and videos of his performances on his Instagram account over the years.

The songwriter briefly returned to the music business in 2019 with the release of a previously recorded song titled God Save The World.

Carson also signed a deal with Encore Music Group and was working on an album that would feature duets with the likes of Michael Ray and Darryl Worley.
