Singer João Carreiro died on Wednesday evening (3) at the age of 41. The compatriot underwent an operation to insert a heart valve, but did not survive the procedure. He even recorded a video on social media before the surgery to warn fans that he would be away from work during the recovery period.
In a good mood, the artist spoke to his wife Francine Caroline in the hospital room and showed him the nightgown he was wearing. “If I 'pack it up,' I don't care about this little outfit here. It doesn't really suit me. It’s made up of little flowers,” he said.
Carreiro also stressed that he would be more withdrawn while recovering from surgery and reassured his followers. During the operation, Francine reported on her husband's condition.
“His heart is already working independently with the new valve,” she wrote in Stories around 5 p.m. Two hours later she asked for prayers for the compatriot: “Pray for his life, for the love of God.”
Early in the morning, Francine mourned João Carreiro. “My life has left me,” she said. The artist's official social media profile also confirmed the death and posted a message of condolence.
The funeral service will take place this Thursday (4) from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Municipal Chamber of Campo Grande (MS). The body will be buried in Cuiabá (MT), the singer's hometown.
The country singer became known nationwide through the duo João Carreiro and Capataz, which was successful in the 2000s. The song Bruto, Rústico e Sistemático was part of the soundtrack for the soap opera Paraíso (2009) on Globo. The duo announced their separation in 2014 and Carreiro pursued a solo career.
Honors
Country artists mourned Carreiro's death on social media. “Thank you, João, for coming to my city to cheer everyone up at the end of the year. God knows everything and he wanted you with him,” said Ana Castela in Stories.
“We are still far from understanding the greater plans for us, and therefore we ask God to brighten your path and comfort your entire family and loved ones. “Your music is your legacy, country music is your flag, and your voice is your identity.” Rest in peace,” wrote the duo Maiara and Maraisa on Instagram.
“You will be greatly missed, comrade! On stage and in life,” said country duo Jads and Jadson.
