Couple is accused of giving their 1-year-old daughter about 15 doses of methamphetamine to relieve the pain of severe burns

A couple from Texas in the US have been arrested and accused of abusing their one-year-old daughter, to whom the parents allegedly administered between 14 and 18 doses of methamphetamine, several American media outlets reported.

Amanda Mann, 31, and her partner Dustin Michael Lawrence, 30, were arrested by police on Sunday after leaving their child in hospital. Various charges were brought against them, including child abuse.

According to police, the little girl suffered severe burns to her face and body after she was hit by boiling liquid that overflowed from a pan on the stove Friday evening.

The little girl would have had 17% of her body burned. In some places the wound was so raw that areas of skin began to tear off.

However, instead of going to the emergency room or consulting a medical professional, the parents applied ointment to their little girl’s skin and administered methamphetamine.

According to authorities, between 14 and 18 syringe marks were found on the baby’s body.

However, when they noticed that the little girl’s condition was deteriorating and she was having difficulty breathing, the couple, after being persuaded by a friend, decided to take the baby to the hospital.

The authorities did not provide any information about the girl’s current health.

In addition to their one-year-old daughter, the parents have five children: two-month-old twins and three other children aged two, six and eight. The twins were also born without medical help in the mobile home in which the family lived.

In addition to the one-year-old girl, a second child in the family also had methamphetamine in his blood, as investigations revealed after the parents were arrested.
