Her ex-husband David Arquette, with whom she first became an item while filming the original Scream, featured in the first five frames before he was killed.
Meanwhile, Neve Campbell, who became a big name on the slasher series, declined to star in Scream VI due to financial concerns.
Neve revealed in an interview with Deadline last year that she turned down an offer to return for Scream VI because she felt her pay wasn’t enough.
“As a woman, I’ve had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my worth, especially when it comes to Scream,” she said.

“I felt like the offer I was presented didn’t match the value I brought to the franchise,” the 49-year-old actress explained.
She has been inseparable from the franchise, which has grossed over $744 million worldwide.
Courteney consequently had to make a Scream film without Neve for the first time, and in a recent interview with Variety, she said of the experience, “I’ve missed working with her, but I will support whatever she sees fit. “
In her Variety interview, Courteney also revealed that she will be confronting Ghostface, the masked serial killer who serves as the franchise’s villain, in the upcoming sixth film.
Various characters have donned the Ghostface mask throughout the film series, and their identities are eventually revealed.
However, Courteney revealed that for the first time in Scream IV, her character must contend against the notorious killer without knowing who it is.
“I have a really good scene with Ghostface and it was amazing. I’ve obviously been stabbed a lot of times and stuff, but this time working with Ghostface and not knowing who’s under the mask was really fun,” she said in a new interview with Variety. “Usually when I get stabbed I know who it is.”
