“We are all completely devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just costars. We are a family,” the statement said. “There is so much to say, but now let’s take a moment to grieve and process this incredible loss.”
“As time goes on, we will say more whenever we can,” the statement continued. “Right now our thoughts and love are with Matty’s family, his friends and everyone who loved him around the world.”
The message was signed by Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc and Schwimmer. Until then, none of the actors had spoken publicly about the loss. According to the website Page Six, the reason for this silence is that the quintet, who have worked with Perry for a decade and have had a friendship spanning almost 30 years, need to issue a joint statement.
The five actors are currently recovering from the tragic loss of their costar and have not yet commented individually on the case. “The cast mourns the loss of their ‘brother’ because that’s exactly what Matty was a brother to them. The Los Angeles Fire Department told Page Six that a call came in about a drowning accident at Matthew Perry’s home around 4:07 p.m. local time. The actor was found unconscious in a hot tub.

According to page six, rescuers didn’t even try to resuscitate him because when they arrived at the scene, “he was unresponsive.”
Law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times that no illegal substances were discovered at the scene, but that authorities seized prescription medications, including “antidepressants, antianxiety medications and a COPD medication.” [Doença Pulmonar Obstrutiva Crônica]” on site.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Sunday that an autopsy was performed on Perry, but it produced inconclusive results. Therefore, the medical examiner ordered further tests, including toxicology.
Because those results are still pending, the TV star’s cause of death has been “postponed.” Although a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department told the Times it was still unclear what happened to Matthew Perry, it was noted that “no crime is suspected.”
