Courtney Kardashian said that after she began to draw boundaries between her personal life and what appeared on the screen in “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”, her sisters Chloe and Kim “began to bond with her.”
Courtney talks to Bustle about the pressure of shooting E! a series that ran for 20 seasons from 2007 to 2021. Weeks before the premiere of the family’s new reality series, The Kardashians by Hulu, she revealed that the filming of the original series – colloquially called “KUWTK” – reflects “happiness”, especially in the ways she felt the need to share information.
She told Bustle that her sisters had pressured her to lift some of those boundaries.
“When they started interfering with me, I said to myself, ‘Oh my God, that’s awful,'” Courtney told Bustle. According to Bustle, Kim at one point showed Courtney a “market research” that showed that viewers want to see more of her in the series.
“KUWTK” was a famous candid show that delved into the family’s troubled life, dealing with topics such as Lamar Odom, Chloe’s ex-husband, hospitalized after an almost fatal overdose, or Scott Disick, the father of Courtney’s three children, going to Rehabilitation.
Courtney told Bustle that by the end of the show, she had become a “toxic environment” in which she felt “almost like a hero”, known for her bad mood and dry comments. She also said that after starting therapy, she began to draw boundaries between her personal life and the series, which leads to disagreements with the family.
It eventually culminated in a physical battle between Kim and Courtney in season 18, leading Courtney to retire from the show.
Courtney’s mother and Kardashian-Jenner matriarch Chris Jenner told Bustle that “we were probably all too strict with Courtney,” saying she thought the family expected to be able to drag Courtney “right there with us, whether she Like it or not, kicking and screaming. “
However, Courtney said the break between KUWTK and her family’s upcoming Hulu series allowed her and her sisters to reevaluate their relationship and realize that they “actually love each other.”
