According to Mr. Ayotte, five families have come to the Minto Recreation Center for help.
The Red Cross and Salvation Army provide temporary housing solutions when needed.

The tornado affected 125 homes and injured one person, according to the City of Ottawa’s Director-General for Emergency and Protection Services Kim Ayotte.
“We are here to support you and we will continue to do so in the coming days,” he assured.

At a press conference, Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe wished to address the victims of the tornado that hit Barrhaven on Thursday and first responders.

I would like to offer my condolences to the families affected by the tornado. “I also want to thank the City of Ottawa Emergency Services and Police for their work in helping residents,” he said.

[MISE À JOUR] According to Hydro-Québec’s website, around 4:30 p.m., 600 customers in the Outaouais were still without power.

[MISE À JOUR] In the Outaouais region, more than 12,000 customers are now without electricity, including 9,798 in Gatineau.
In an interview with Radio-Canada on Thursday, Hydro-Québec spokeswoman Caroline Des Rosiers pointed out that it is difficult to give recovery times for weather events because every outage is different.
Sometimes it will be quite simple, we will intervene and restore the power supply to several homes, but sometimes we come and see the damage and at that point there is still some work to be done can restore the power supply.

The City of Ottawa has mobilized the Emergency Response Center, while city employees are providing all necessary resources to support residents, Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe tweeted.

In the Barrhaven area of Ottawa, more than 1,600 customers are currently without power. However, Hydro Ottawa announces that power should be restored around 7 p.m.
