The driver of the van collided with some pedestrians traveling on Highway 132. He drove a little further to run over other pedestrians. It happened over a certain distance.

The CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent has confirmed that six injured are being taken to a hospital center in Quebec. Spokesman Gilles Turmel stated that 12 people were “taken care of”.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, the suspect is a 38-year-old local man. He turned himself in to the Amqui police after the crime. He was arrested for fatal hit and run.

The Sûreté du Québec confirmed that two men died in Amqui: a man in his seventies and a man in his sixties. The police reported a total of nine injuries, two of them seriously.
