The show begins with footage from The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, which is completely sold out and is attended by approximately 50,000 fans. Michael Cole and Corey Graves welcome us. It plays the music of Pat McAfee, who is returning to WWE to great public support.
After being announced by Mike Rome, McAfee makes his way to the commentary table, where he is joined by Cole and Graves.
In the ring, Rome announces that the opening match of the night will be the 30man Royal Rumble match. The Imperium music plays and WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther enters the match number one. Now the music is played by Sheamus, with the Irishman coming in second and repeating last September’s fight at the Clash at the Castle, once again facing Gunther. Sound the gong.
30man Royal Rumble Match: Cody Rhodes was the winner
Rhodes eliminates Gunther last and wins the fight.
The victory secured Cody Rhodes, who entered the fight as the last competitor, to secure his place in the main event of WrestleMania 39.
The following fight will be the Pit Black Match between Bray Wyatt and LA Knight. Let’s go to the video that sums up the whole rivalry.
Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match: Bray Wyatt vs LA Knight
Wyatt applies a “Sister Abigail” to Knight, followed by a pinfall.
After the fight, visibly possessed, Wyatt goes after Knight, who tries to run away. Knight runs away in the middle of the crowd, but still hits Wyatt in the head several times with a bat, but the “Eater of Worlds” doesn’t feel anything with the sticks. Knight runs to part of the stage, but Wyatt catches up and knocks him out with a mandible claw. Uncle Howdy appears at the top of a structure, jumping onto Knight and performing a “Diving Elbow Drop”. Several flames erupt around Wyatt, who raises his arms. Play your music as some Firefly Fun House characters appear on the tall structure used by Howdy.
It is announced that there are 51,338,000 fans at the Alamodome tonight.
RAW Women’s Championship Match: Bianca Belair vs. Alexa Luck
Belair applies a “KOD” to Bliss followed by a pinfall.
After the fight, the lights in the arena dim and images of a possessed Bliss and Uncle Howdy appear on the screen. Bliss watches from the ring, apparently disappointed.
30 Women Royal Rumble Match: Rhea Ripley was the winner
Ripley eliminates Liv Morgan last and wins the match.
With this result, Ripley secures her place in one of the main events of WrestleMania 39.
Continuing the show, singer Hardy comes to the ring with his band to sing “Sold Out,” the theme song from the WWE Royal Rumble.
The following match between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship will be the main event of the evening. Let’s move on to the video that recaps the rivalry.
Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns with Sami Zayn and Paul Heyman vs. Kevin Owens
Reigns applies a “Spear” to Owens, followed by a pinfall.
After the match, The Bloodline appears fully in the ring. Jey Uso was preparing to put the Bloodline necklace on Sami Zayn, but Roman Reigns stops him and says it’s not over yet. Reigns commands and the entire Bloodline begins attacking Owens in the ring. The attack is brutal. After several “superkicks” from The Usos, a chair is placed on Owens’ neck and Solo Sikoa cannonballs him in the corner.
Zayn is obviously beginning to despair of what he sees. Heyman hands Reigns two handcuffs, which she passes to the Usos. The Usos tie Owens to the ropes and begin using several “super kicks” again. Reigns grabs a chair and goes to attack Owens, but Zayn steps in front of him and says it’s not necessary. Reigns then hands Zayn the chair and tells him to hit it on Owens. However, Zayn doesn’t want to do it and the entire Bloodline starts cheering for him, saying that this is his big moment.
Losing patience, Reigns starts shoving Zayn and orders him to attack Owens, but as his back is turned he is hit by Zayn himself, shocking everyone. Jey Uso despairs as does Jimmy. Jimmy lands a “superkick” on Zayn and proceeds to pummel him in the ring. Sikoa pushes Jimmy away and starts beating up Zayn as well. Jey Uso leaves the ring disappointed as he was not involved in the attacks. Reigns wrecks Zayn with the chair in the center of the ring, ripping his entire “Honorary Uce” shirt.
The show ends with The Bloodline exiting the ring while Zayn and Owens remain devastated on screen.
