COVID-19: Hospitalizations still falling

The number of hospitalizations related to COVID-19 continues to fall in Quebec, where 11 more deaths have been reported.

According to the latest Public Health report, 1,777 Quebecers are occupying a hospital bed, down 30 from the previous day.

Among them are 42 people in intensive care, a number that has also fallen since Tuesday’s report (-7).

The province also recorded 908 new virus infections among citizens with access to screening tests, while 169 rapid tests were reported on Tuesday.

The number of healthcare workers absent due to the virus rose slightly from 3,617 to 3,692 in 24 hours.

The latest data on the development of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours in Quebec shows:

  • 908 new cases out of a total of 1,177,843 infected*;
  • 11 new deaths, for a total of 16,374 deaths, ie;
    • 0 deaths in the last 24 hours,
    • 7 deaths that occurred two to seven days ago,
    • 4 deaths that occurred more than 7 days ago;

NOTE: Because deaths are not shown in the data above, the number of deaths may exceed the number of new deaths for the day.

  • 3,692 healthcare workers absent for COVID-related reasons (preventive withdrawal, isolation, waiting for results, etc.);
  • 1,777 hospitalizations, including 596 due to COVID-19, down 30 from the previous day;
    • 109 new entries,
    • 139 new releases;
  • 42 people in intensive care, including 22 due to COVID-19, a decrease of 7 compared to the previous day;
    • 6 new entries,
    • 13 new releases;
  • 12,828 samples taken on August 29;
  • So far 282,841 self-declared rapid tests, of which 236,905 are positive: 203 declared for yesterday, of which 169 are positive.
