Since health restrictions were lifted, the coronavirus epidemic has been growing in China, worrying health officials around the world.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday urged China to share its information on the new wave of Covid-19 the country is experiencing and again offered help in the form of vaccines.
“It is very important that all countries, including China, focus on making sure people are vaccinated, that tests and treatments are available and, most importantly, that information about their lives is shared with the world – because it is not only has an impact on China, but on the whole world,” he said at a press conference.
Vaccination of the Elderly Cares
Since Beijing ended its strict health restrictions in early December, the number of positive Covid-19 cases in China has exploded, raising fears of high mortality among the elderly.
According to testimonies collected, the crematoria are under pressure without a formal connection to Covid being established.
With a circulating virus, “it is possible that other variants will develop, that these variants will in turn spread and affect us, us or other countries,” worried Mr Blinken on Thursday, assuring that he was “fully prepared to provide assistance those who ask,” which China has not done.
The US Secretary of State plans to visit Beijing in early 2023 to try to ease tensions with the United States’ main diplomatic and economic opponent.
