Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is the subject of a lawsuit from a former landlord, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Thursday.

Rose Marie Yadegar’s Denton County lawsuit seeks unpaid rent, maintenance and damage fees, and late penalties related to Diggs’ one-year lease on a home in Frisco, Texas.

The lawsuit states Diggs signed the lease in March 2022 but left the property in July.

Although the property was rented for $5,500 a month, the lawsuit seeks total damages of up to $250,000.

“This appears to be due to a misunderstanding or miscommunication with this rental property that ended sometime last year,” Diggs attorney Scott Becker told WFAA-TV in Dallas. “…He thought this matter was completely resolved, so it came as a bit of a shock to him that this situation arose out of the blue.”

Becker said Diggs wanted to find a solution, but Yadegar told WFAA-TV she tried to work things out before filing the lawsuit.

Diggs joined the Dallas Cowboys from Alabama as the 51st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, signing a four-year contract for $6,320,907.

In his sophomore season, Diggs led the NFL with 11 interceptions, the highest total in a season in 40 years. He made the first-team All-Pro.

In 2022, Diggs intercepted three passes and was selected again as a Pro Bowler.
