Speaking to the EFE news agency, two lawyers specializing in civil law explained the reasons why the “bug” could live with “Geo”. “Although the laws of the Kingdom still prohibit cohabitation without a marriage contract, authorities have recently begun to turn a blind eye and they don’t go after anyone anymore, even though those laws are applied if there’s a problem or a crime,” said one of the attorneys, who preferred to remain anonymous.

The other lawyer explained that the Saudi authorities “today no longer interfere in this matter for expatriates”, although the regulations still prohibit cohabitation without marriage. In that sense, he pointed out that “the police are no longer investigating or prosecuting anyone,” which refers to foreigners living and working in Saudi Arabia.
