Cristiano Ronaldo returns home with Georgina Rodriguez and their newborn daughter

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez returned home with their newborn daughter on Thursday, days after the footballer confirmed his partner had lost the child’s twin brother in childbirth.

The Manchester United striker shared a social media update shortly after their baby girl returned from hospital following her birth on Monday.

Posting a photo to his 430million followers, Ronaldo, 37, cradled his daughter while being accompanied by Spanish partner Georgina and their four children – three of whom were conceived by the footballer through surrogate mothers.

Captioning the caption, he wrote: “Home sweet home. Gio and our little girl are finally with us. We would like to thank everyone for the kind words and gestures.

“Your support is very important and we have all felt the love and respect you have for our family. Now is the time to be thankful for the life we just welcomed into this world.”

The post was shared shortly after Ronaldo returned to full training at Manchester United after missing Tuesday night’s 4-0 draw with Liverpool.

The Portuguese footballer announced in October 2021 that he is expecting twins with long-term partner Georgina, whom he met at Spanish giants Real Madrid.

However, a statement released on Monday confirmed that one of the couple’s twins had died, with Ronaldo describing the loss as “the greatest pain”.

He wrote: “It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our little boy. It’s the greatest pain a parent can feel,” the announcement said.

“Only the birth of our little girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for their competent care and support.

“We are all devastated by this loss and kindly request privacy at this very difficult time. Our little boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.’

Ronaldo originally shared the news of Georgina’s pregnancy with fans on social media, admitting that their hearts are filled with love.

“I am pleased to announce that we are expecting twins. Our hearts are filled with love – we can’t wait to meet you,” he wrote in October.

Ronaldo’s post showed him and Georgina proudly showing off their twins’ ultrasound scans, along with a picture of his four children swimming together.

Georgina shares three-year-old daughter Alana with Cristiano. The Manchester United star also has son Cristiano Jr., 11, and twins Eva and Mateo, four.

Since meeting in 2016, Georgina has followed five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo from Madrid to Turin and then to Manchester as he left Real Madrid for Juventus and United.

Ronaldo’s eldest son Cristiano Jr. was born in the United States in 2010 but was immediately brought back to Madrid to grow up in Spain. The identity of his mother is unknown.

In June 2017, the then-Real Madrid star surprised fans with the news that he had welcomed twins Eva and Mateo through a surrogate, and just a month later he and Georgina announced they were expecting their first child together.

When asked by Spanish publication El Mundo if he was “happy” to be pregnant again, he said: “Yes, very much so.”

Georgina then gave birth to their daughter Alana on November 12, 2017, and the jock announced the news on Instagram, writing, “Alana Martina just born! Both Geo and Alana are doing great! We are all very happy!’

The whereabouts of Georgina Rodriguez were not immediately clear as of Monday night.

The Spanish press reported earlier this year that she was due to give birth to her twins in a private hospital in Madrid.

According to the reports, the 28-year-old had renewed her trust at Quironsalud Madrid University Hospital near the £4.8million home on the gated La Finca estate that Ronaldo still owns.

Georgina was reportedly spotted visiting the hospital with Cristiano during her visit to the Spanish capital in January as they stayed in a suite at the five-star Rosewood Villa Magna hotel after a romantic meal together.

She gave birth to daughter Alana Martina on November 12, 2017 in a VIP suite at the prestigious hospital, a favorite of the rich and famous.

The suite, one of four at the clinic with a sleeping and living area, two bathrooms, WiFi, a TV and a safe, was located in a restricted area with direct access to an underground car park.

Tamara Degenhardt, the doctor who took care of Georgina’s last birth, is said to still be at the hospital where she oversees prenatal diagnostics.

Ronaldo and Georgina famously met while she was working as a retail assistant in Madrid when they were spotted walking the rails at a Gucci store in 2016.

In 2020, she admitted that meeting Ronaldo by chance made her “fall in love at first sight.”

She claimed that the feeling after their meeting was mutual, as she revealed in a recent interview with Italian magazine ELLE.

Georgina said: “The first meeting with Ronaldo was at Gucci, where I worked as a sales assistant. Days later we met again at an event of another brand.

During an interview in China in July 2017, when he had just had three children and had been with Georgina for about a year, he was quoted by the Portuguese daily Correio da Manha as saying: “My eldest Cristianinho is very happy.

“He’s doing well and says he wants more brothers and sisters. He wants seven, the magic number, and I like that.’
