TIED TOGETHER: Cristiano Ronaldo announces the death of his newborn son and says the birth of his twin sister ‘gives us strength’

On Monday, the 37-year-old soccer star shared the heartbreaking news of her son’s death with a post on social media.

“It is with our deepest sadness that we must announce that our little boy has passed away. It’s the greatest pain a parent can feel,” Ronaldo wrote. “Only the birth of our little girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”

Ronaldo continued by thanking her doctors and nurses for “their expert care and support”.

“We are all devastated by this loss and kindly request privacy at this very difficult time. Our little boy, you are our angel. We will always love you,” he concluded the post, signed by himself and Rodríguez.

Ronaldo, who is also a father to 4-year-old twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 4-year-old daughter Alana Martina and 11-year-old son Cristiano Jr., announced on Instagram on Oct. 28 that he is expecting twins.

The story goes on

Earlier Thursday, Ronaldo thanked fans at Anfield Stadium in Merseyside, England, for paying tribute to his family during Tuesday night’s game. Manchester United confirmed on Tuesday that their star player would miss that night’s game against Liverpool.

“One world… One sport… One global family… Thank you, Anfield. Me and my family will never forget this moment of respect and compassion. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram alongside a video of the minute-long applause at the game.

After the tragedy, football clubs and players sent their heartfelt condolences to the couple.

“Your pain is our pain. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time,” Ronaldo’s side Manchester United commented on his heartbreaking Instagram post.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Georgina and all the family at this time,” repeated Juventus, for whom the striker played from 2018 to 2021.
