Users can pay an $8 (£6.46) monthly subscription to sign up for Twitter Blue, which comes with the blue tick along with access to other features like longer video uploads and an edit button.

But many have taken offense at Musk’s money-making tactics, opting not to contribute to the billionaire’s coffers after he acquired Twitter for $44 billion (£38.1 billion) in October 2022.
