The main positions on which the delegates will rule are the president of the organization, the vice president, the secretary general; Deputy Secretary General and Treasurer
According to the organizing committee, around 4,500 delegates from all over the country will take part in the event.
Last night, during the ANC President’s Gala Dinner, Party and Country President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his confidence that the ANC will rise to the challenges ahead by finding solutions to them. After losing two million jobs during Covid-19 and being devastated by unrest in July last year, the country is on a growth path, he said.
For his part, the party’s general treasurer and interim general secretary, Paul Mashatile, expressed his confidence in the success of the 55th National Conference.
We will have a good conference. We’ll try to get out of this together, he said
Yes, he argued, leadership is important, but we must not allow ourselves to be distracted by the important things that matter to our people, so I hope we emerge from this conference stronger, more united and more focused on the issues we face in our communities have to tackle.
The National Conference is the supreme governing and controlling body of the ANC.
National Conference delegates make up 90 percent of the rank and file membership, with the remaining 10 percent coming from the NEC, the Provincial Executive Committees (PECs), and three leagues (youth, women, and veterans).
The current President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, was elected President of the ANC at the 54th Conference.
