Crusoe: “Brazil is back and the dictator Maduro is grateful The Antagonist

The independent investigative commission sent to Venezuela by the UN Human Rights Council published a report on Wednesday (20) showing that attacks by the Nicolás Maduro dictatorship on trade unionists, politicians and human rights defenders have increased, it said Crusoe.

“Between January 2020 and August 2023, the commission found evidence of five extrajudicial executions, 14 shortterm disappearances and 58 arbitrary detentions. “In addition, 28 cases of torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment of detainees were recorded, including 19 cases of sexual and genderbased violence against men and women.”

“According to the Commission, there was a turn in the repression in late 2020 and early 2021 with the end of mass antigovernment protests. However, repressive state structures were not dismantled and the government increased its efforts to control human rights defenders, civil society organizations, trade unions, the press and political parties. “Persistent threats, surveillance and harassment, as well as defamation and censorship, were used by the state to silence, discourage and suppress any real or perceived opposition,” the report said.”
