Argentine President Javier Milei published this Tuesday, December 26, an enigmatic message on his profile on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter.
The post shows the front of the Casa Rosada, the seat of the executive branch, with an Argentine flag flying over the balcony.
The flag reads: “You don’t see them”, in Spanish “No la ven”.
The message refers to another post from Milei on Saturday, December 23rd.
In this publication, the Argentine president shares an interview with the late actor Hugo Arana in which he criticizes liberalism, particularly the “stroke theory”.
According to this theory, the excess wealth of the richest would benefit the poorest by, for example, stimulating the economy more through greater investment and consumption.
In his commentary, Arana stated: “To become a multimillionaire, thousands of malnourished, sick children must lie in polluted water and live in wooden houses, otherwise there can be no millionaires.”
“How do I reconcile this? “I’m sorry, but I don’t see you,” he added.
In the December 23rd post, Milei already countered with Arana.
“Here Hugo Arana repeated one of the most absurd and mendacious statements about free enterprise capitalism. To illustrate the ignorance of those who repeat this brutality, I tell them that in free enterprise capitalism, exchange is voluntary. “So if there were an impact, it would be in favor of the two parties that decide to carry out the transaction,” the president said.
“On the other hand, in free enterprise capitalism there is no impact because if there were, it would mean inefficiency and lead to bankruptcy in the system in question,” he added.
In the publication of this Tuesday, Milei explains that his critics do not see the reform that he wants to implement with his decree in an economic package presented last Wednesday, December 20th.
