Crusoe: IMF praises Milei's package for the economy

The Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, praised the announcement of the package of economic measures by the government of Javier Milei (photo) this Tuesday, December 12, in Argentina.

“I welcome the decisive measures announced today by President Javier Milei and his economic team to address Argentina's major economic challenges an important step towards restoring stability and rebuilding the country's economic potential,” Georgieva wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Early in the evening of this Tuesday, Argentine Economy Minister Luis Caputo announced the nine economic measures that the Milei government is embarking on.

The most important reason is the devaluation of the peso at the official exchange rate, causing the dollar to rise from 365 pesos to 800 pesos.

Georgieva also shared an official statement from IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack on the matter:
