According to Xinhua, Xi Jinping was unanimously elected President of the People’s Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission at the session of the XIV National People’s Congress of China this Friday.
Xi Jinping later took a public oath of allegiance to the constitution at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Similarly, Han Zheng was elected Vice President of China at the current annual session of the national legislature.
This week the XIV. National People’s Assembly (APN) met and in a plenary session the work reports of the Standing Committee of the XIII. APN, the Supreme People’s Court (TPS) and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (FPS), and explaining a plan to reform the institutions of the State Council (cabinet).
The meeting was attended by Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders.
Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the 13th NPC Standing Committee, presented a work report of the 13th NPC Standing Committee to the meeting.
TPS Chairman Zhou Qiang introduced the court’s work report, while Attorney General Zhang Jun introduced the FPS’s work.
State Councilor Xiao Jie explained the plan to reform the institutions of the State Council to lawmakers, Xinhua said.
