Madelén González-Pardo, Tourism Advisor at the Embassy of the Caribbean State in Rome, pointed out in statements to Prensa Latina that the participation of the Caribbean State in this event allows operators of the sector and the public present to be updated on the attractiveness to keep getting to know the island’s travel destinations and to promote them.
“This is an excellent opportunity to highlight themes related to archaeological, cultural and historical tourism, values that are part of our promotional campaign for Cuba Única,” said González-Pardo.
In addition to the Caribbean country, representatives from 21 other countries are taking part in this event, including on this occasion for the first time the Vatican with the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archeology and South Korea with the famous city of Gochang and its megaliths.
Also noteworthy are the pavilions of Albania, Algeria, Cyprus, Colombia, Ecuador, Estonia, Greece, Guatemala, Iran, Malta, Peru, the Slovak Republic, Serbia, Syria, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, Tunisia and Uzbekistan.
The Cuban stand arouses great interest among a large number of visitors, including professionals from the sector of this country, one of the main markets for tourism in the Antillean nation, as well as authorities from the region who attended the event, the official stressed
Among the numerous initiatives in the program of the 2023 BMTA edition, which opened the day before, with the theme “New Intelligence”, include 150 conferences with around 600 speakers, numerous meetings and more than 20 laboratories to facilitate exchanges between specialists in this tourism sector.
It is dedicated to the innovative possibilities for cultural heritage enabled by a constantly evolving technological landscape and highlights a virtual archeology area (Archeovirtual) organized in collaboration with the Institute of Heritage Sciences of the Italian National Research Council.
