Cuba will host the 2023 International Community Congress

Havana, June 28 (Prensa Latina) With a mission to promote the culture that exists in Cuba’s communities today, venues in Havana will host the 2023 International Community Congress from October 14-16.

Under the motto “My roots invite”, the event will take place as part of the celebrations of the 45th anniversary of the founding of the Houses of Culture system in this Caribbean country and the 130th anniversary of the Houses of the City in Italy.

The Congress, whose main argument is communion and its transformation of cultural practices, will have as its headquarters the Fidel Castro Ruz Center and common areas with great impact and acceptance in this capital.

During these days, these spaces will encourage dialogue between academics, community leaders, teachers, art teachers, intellectuals, artists and cultural promoters of Cuba and other nations of the world.

These include Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Ecuador, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Italy and Panama.

As part of the broad program of the event, on October 11, 12 and 13 there will be pre-Congress courses and workshops, meetings with communities in social change and with socio-cultural and local development projects, in addition to the Community Entrepreneurship Forum.

In addition, there will be master lectures, panels, experiential workshops, work tables, presentations of community projects, and exchange and socialization visits.

Also, the scientific program takes place, which deals with issues of community development and the integration of organizations, institutions and local actors that currently promote integrated community work.

As reported in a press conference, the thematic priorities of the meeting will focus on the following topics: Public Policy and Community Development, Communities, Communication and Cultural Change, Community Cultural Heritage, Identity and Environment.

Added to this are cultural and creative industries, community sustainability and international cooperation, as well as innovation, technology and collaborative practices.

According to the organizing committee, the congress represents an important opportunity for scientific exchange and at the same time promotes cooperation between national and international institutions.

In the presence of, among other guests, the President and the Director of International Relations of the National Council of Houses of Culture, Diango González and Marlene García respectively, and the writer Miguel Barnet, the meeting took place that honored the cultural work of the municipalities.
