Kelvyn Espinosa He is one of the many faces of Cuban acting who left Cuba in search of a better life and is now successful in the United States, nothing more and nothing less than as a chef.
Her social networks are full of videos and photos showing exquisite dishes and what happens in her kitchen before the final product comes out, which is also a work of art but a culinary one.
However, from time to time a publication appears that recalls his years as an actor in soap operas such as “The Hidden Face of the Moon” or his roles in the theater.
Kelvyn was born in 1982 in a town in Cienfuegos, Rhodes and his desire to become an actor comes not from his family but from his love of television and the adventures he enjoyed on the small screen as a child.
In an interview three years ago for the show “La casa de Maka,” the actor said he was a happy country child who never lacked a book before bed.
At the age of 14 he went to Havana to study at the National School of Art (ENA), which was a great challenge for a village boy, but it was a time of learning that he greatly enjoyed.
Although he got his start in the theater, he later started on television, interviewing a chef on a cooking show on the Educational Channel, and that’s where the cooking bug bit him.
From this phase onwards he played some of his roles in the police thriller “Tras la puerta” until he later got his first big job as Néstor in the soap opera “La cara Hidden de la Luna”.
“I never wanted to leave Cuba, it never crossed my mind (…) I never thought about it until I had my daughter. The moment my daughter comes into my life, I start to suffer and lack the things that were basic and vital to be able to give, and then the idea starts to take hold,” Kelvyn said in this interview.
Together with his daughter, the girl’s mother, from whom he was already separated, and also the little girl’s grandmother, they decided to travel to the USA thanks to the tourist visa that the four of them had. He left behind his parents, his sister, his grandparents and his entire family.
He came to Miami with a clear vision, first in a cement factory, then in other warehouses, driving and felling trees in New Mexico, in the desert of El Paso. and although he had contact with the world of acting through friendships, there were no concrete opportunities.
“I’m fine, I’m happy and grateful for everything that happened to me,” he said three years ago, when he was not yet a chef and was assembling kitchen furniture.
Currently, Kelvyn Espinosa is enjoying his life as a chef and although it is something that moves away from acting, he has discovered another great passion in this world.
