Cuban artist group will take part in event in Panama

According to the group’s official Facebook page, they will present the shows Ángeles para una Tradición and Cubano Soy with a selection of rural roots and traditional folk dances of the Caribbean island.

Telón Abierto is a folklore group made up of students, workers and graduates of the University of Avila, founded 25 years ago to preserve and save the native dances of the Cuban nation.

With a wealth of professional support within the amateur art movement, as well as national and international awards and recognitions, the group has exhibited its art in Spain, Portugal, France, Switzerland and Italy.

The group’s founder and general director, José Félix Rópeda, explained that they owe their success to the constant improvement, research and study of each work they represent.

“Behind each show there is a historical-cultural investigation, which ultimately results in a scientific presentation at events and competitions and forms the basis for each of the dances,” emphasized Rópeda.

Festkolk will have its first edition from October 19th to 30th in Panama and will feature dance groups from Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba and the host country.
