The Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez today congratulated the Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago, Dennis Francis, on his election as President of the 78th United Nations General Assembly.
In his Twitter profile, the highest representative of Cuban diplomacy, Francis wished him every success in his work at the helm of this most important UN body, which he predicted will help strengthen his leadership.
He also assured him of the support of Cuba, including from the G-77 + China, a group of which this Caribbean state will temporarily hold the presidency in 2023.
The veteran diplomat from Trinidad was elected President of the UN General Assembly this Thursday for its next session, which opens next September. Francis has served in numerous capacities over the past four decades, including at the World Trade Organization and the UN Human Rights Council.
